The Graduation Coach (GC) program, a signature model of Communities In Schools, fills a pivotal role inside the school. Graduation Coaches provide student support services with the goal of keeping students in school, helping them graduate on time, and preparing them for life. In order to do that, they tailor services to the needs of the student body as well as those of the individual student. With the Graduation Coaches' support, teachers can focus on teaching, and students can focus on learning. Services provided include basic needs provision, academic mentors, internships, career/college readiness, cultural awareness programs, individual counseling and support groups.
CIS graduation coaches are currently based at Shepard Middle School (2401 Dakota St) and Durham Performance Learning Center (401 N. Driver St).
