"The Incredible Years: Fostering Positive Parent-Child Relationships" is a 14+-week program offered by Communities In Schools (CIS) of Durham. The course meets weekly and is designed to cater to parents and caregivers with elementary-aged children. Trainings led by facilitators focus on parenting competencies such as monitoring, positive discipline, and confidence. CIS of Durham provides free childcare and meals for families participating in the program.
This initiative has won numerous awards as one of the most effective models of reducing juvenile delinquency and child abuse according to research. The program is located inside neighborhood schools in partnership with EDCI.
