Located just blocks from downtown Durham, the Museum of Life and Science is one of North Carolina’s top family destinations. Their interactive science park includes a two-story science center, a butterfly conservatory, and beautifully landscaped outdoor exhibits with over 60 species of live animals.
The Museum of Life and Science works closely with EDCI and Y.E. Smith Elementary to offer a variety of fun and experiential learning opportunities to children and families in the EDCI Zone.
As a part of their Ignite Learning planning, EDCI Zone families can apply for a $5 year-long membership to the museum. Up to six children and adults can attend per visit. Ignite Learning applications are available in English and Spanish at the EDCI office.
The Museum also partners with EDCI to offer additional out-of-school learning experiences for EDCI Zone kids, including EDCI STEAM Saturdays, Tinker Tech workshops, and summer camp scholarships. They partner with Y.E. Smith Elementary to offer student field trips and Friday Clubs.
